Thea Crawshaw

Thea (Theodora) is Index’s Senior Legal Counsel focusing on the structuring, formation and ongoing operation of Index’s funds as well as advising the investor relations team.  She joined the team in 2023.

She was attracted to venture capital due to its inherent long-term and collaborative nature, at both fund and portfolio company level. “Fundraising negotiations are very different to almost anything else in finance and corporate law”, explains Thea. “Whereas so much of a lawyer’s role can be adversarial, raising a venture capital fund is about forming a close partnership with your limited partners based on mutual respect.”

Prior to joining Index, Thea was a senior associate at Latham & Watkins in London, where she represented and advised alternative investment funds, institutional investors and global asset managers. She studied history at the University of Durham and has completed the Investment Management Certificate (CFA UK). Since 2020, she has been trustee director at Essex Blind Charity.
