Bastian backs original thinkers who execute intensively and attract exceptional people — then follows them wherever their ambition leads, from horizontal AI platforms to software infrastructure, quantum, and space. He backs technical founders at every stage and pays more attention to the ambition behind a company than the category it falls into. His investments span Europe and the US, with a strong focus on the DACH market and the Nordics.

Before Index, Bastian led Picus Capital's Berlin office, investing at pre-seed and seed. He holds an M.Sc. from ETH Zurich and a B.Sc. from KIT.
