Sonos is defining the ultimate listening experience. The Audio Systems Engineering team at Sonos is developing designs that define the sonic performance characteristics of Sonos products. As a Principal Transducer Engineer at Sonos, you will:
Design transducers for our loudspeaker products, verify conformance of the designs to target, and take these designs into production.
Contribute to the overall acoustic system design of our Sonos loudspeaker products.
Partner with the entire product development team to ensure superior system performance. (DSP team, amplifier team, digital electronics team, system software and mechanical teams)
Interact closely with the Industrial Design team to ensure synergy between product design and audio performance.
Maximize the overall acoustical system performance within the target BOM cost
Work with Sonos mechanical engineers to create detailed mechanical files of acoustic and transducer systems
Drive and motivate team members and suppliers in USA/Asia facilities
Interface with manufacturing and QA organizations to ensure successful prototype and MP builds
Be a knowledge expert in relevant emerging technologies in the sound/acoustic and transducer industries
Guide/train Sonos manufacturing test team on proper assembly and test methods
BSEE or BSME or BS in Acoustics or Physics.
Ten or more years’ experience in loudspeaker transducer design and engineering.
Exceptional knowledge in acoustic fundamentals.
Familiarity with integrated acoustic/electronic systems.
Basic understanding of amplifier design and Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
Understanding of statistical analysis, and DOE planning and analysis.
Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent products under a tight deadline in a startup environment.
Decisive, action-oriented team player who learns quickly, works independently, and takes ownership of open issues.
Experience driving reliability testing, to troubleshoot and solve reliability test issues.
Experience with a variety of acoustic test equipment such as: CLIO, LMS, Klippel, ETANI, LISTEN, Audio Precision, etc.
Ability to use simulation tools such as: LEAP, Spead, MatLab, FEA packages, Fine Cone, Fine Motor, COMSOL, etc., to model and predict transducer performance.
MS Acoustics or Physics, MSME, MSEE
Experience in electrical design (analog/digital)
Experience with signal processing
High volume Consumer Electronics experience or Automotive OEM experience
Basic understanding of engineering tools (schematic capture tools, Pro Engineer, etc.)
